How can I get the sound to work with my webcam?

Webcam sound doesnt work?

i just got a webcam and its works perfectly but my friend has a laptop and she tried web caming with me and her sound doesnt work. it has a web cam so im pretty sure it should have a microphone and speakers obviously. what can she do to get the sound to work i cant hear her and she cant hear me .
