My video card speed problem?

Can someone help me find the right video card for my pc? 10 points for best answer?

  • I have a windows xp 32bit os. 2 gigs of 667 ram ddr2, E4500 dual core duo stock speed is 2.20ghz overclcoked to 2.50, 8600gts 256mb gddr3, Pci-e mobo and this is the problem i'm having, my power supply might not be good enough but I do not have much cash to spend for a new power supply. my budget is 100 dollars. My Psu specs are 420 watt +3.3V,26.0A | +5V, 32.0A | +12V, 20A | -5V, 0.5A | -12V, 0.8A| +5Vsb, 2.0A| I need a video card that will be able to maxe assassins creed 2, cod modern warfare 2, and more games in the future. I have a 17' inch. monitor so my max resolution is only 1280x1024. If my psu is not good enough, can someone show me one that is, and that is fairly cheap for price/performance? Thanks.

    You Mentioned - 8600gts 256mb gddr3 - don't you already have this card? Or did you say that this card isn't working? Can you please be a little more specific? You can try BFG or XFX 9600GT

alright so 1st off let me explain one thing, 'Cheap' and 'Good' with computers DON'T mix.... you pay for what you get.... so baring that in mind... Option 1: new PSU and better GPU (I would recommend something from Corsair, Evermax or PC Power & Cooling for the PSU, and something from EVGA, XFX or Asus, I would also go with an ATI card as they are cheaper then there Nvidia counterpart.... I would personally go for either a 4870 or a 5750.. both are around 150$ CND.... Option 2: new PSU and better GPU (I would recommend something from Corsair, Evermax or PC Power & Cooling for the PSU) and get a 2nd 8600gts and do run them in SLI Option 3: Similar to Option 2 but go with a better GPU like the 260 or 275 and use the 8600 as a physx card
