How do I get my video to play on Quicktime?

Why wont my computer play Mpeg Video files?

  • Ok well i recently installed my easy cap DC60+ so i could record some game play on my xbox, ever since then my computer will no longer play Mpeg files, it works fine when i try to play any other video file. When i try to open Mpegs with Windows media player i get this message: Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For additional assistance, click Web Help. when i try to open Mpegs with QuickTime i get this message: error -2048 Couldn't open the file uvs100607-004.MPG because it is not a file that QuickTime understands. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

    its the codac either find an mpeg codac OR (recommended) http://www.gomlab.com/eng/ download that media player its the one i use and i love it works nice and its wonderful, and when it need a codac it will tell you and give you the download! ALSO! if you want you can even get a windows media player skin http://www.gomlab.com/eng/GMP_SkinLibrary.html

it may be that the mpeg file is not mpeg but a hidden exe if not the use vlc player

it means they dont support Mpegs video file .Windows media player sucks ! The ideal video format is WMV if you use windows media player.COZ it does not support AVI, MP4 video files very well. so you need to convert them into WMV video format with some kind of video converter, then you edit and play your file in windows media player .some of my friend suggest me a good one ,share it with you, hope it works. http://www.best-video-converter.net/video-converter-wondershare.html here are some guides on how to convert video http://www.best-video-converter.net/guide.html

Don't use Windows Media Player, use either VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) or Media Player Classic (Included in the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack - http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_mega_codec_pack.htm) I myself use Media Player Classic, but if you just want a single program that doesn't have to install any codecs or anything (they are all build in), use VLC.
