How to make computer icons?

How do I make the fonts and Icons on my computer larger?

  • I just got a new Dell computer, how can I make the fonts, and icons on it larger? Also how can I make the fonts and icons on my internet (Mozilla Firefox) larger? Thanks

  • Answer:

Don't change your resolution. Trust me! You should leave your resolution on what ever it was on when you got the computer, that way it will be in the intended resolution and things won't look distorted. If you've already changed your resolution I strongly recommend you change it back to what it was on at first. If you've forgot what it was on then you should be able to find out by looking through the documents for it, there should be a display section. Now the best way to make everything bigger is to change your display settings. To do this follow the steps below. The steps below are for Windows XP so if you have Windows Vista the steps may vary. It can still be done though. SECTION 1 - To make everything bigger except fonts. 1. Go to your desktop 2. Right click any clear space on your desktop, and click properties. 3. Click Settings, then click advanced. 4. On the general tab change your DPI setting. By default it should be on Normal so to make it bigger change it to Large. 5. Click apply, then ok. (If your prompted to restart your computer after the change then do so because if you don't then it may cause display errors). SECTION 2 - To make your fonts bigger 1. Repeat steps 1 & 2 from section 1. 2. Click appearence 3. In the Font size tab change it to a size that suits you. 4. Repeat step 5 above. SECTION 3 - To make your program icons and fonts bigger. (This will make everything in Firefox bigger like you asked). 1. Repeat steps 1 & 2 from section 1. 2. Click appearence, then click advanced. 3. Change the sizes to suit your needs. Below are the things you need to change to make everything in Firefox look bigger. Icon Menu Message Box Palette Title Selected Items ToolTip 4. Click apply, then ok. When I done this though I found that everything in Firefox was still a little bit small for me. But luckily I came across a good Firefox add on which can be used to make everything look bigger in Firefox. The add on is called Glazoom. If you need it you can get it here. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6489 By default it will make everything look bigger. If you only want to make your font sizes bigger then follow the steps below. 1. Open Firefox 2. Click tools, then add ons. 3. Under Glazoom click options. 4. Untick full zoom instead of text zoom. 5. Click ok. Now the first thing to do with Glazoom is find out the size you want everything to be, so go to a few pages and try zooming in. Just try to find a zoom level that suits you. To zoom in with Glazoom you click the plus sign in the bottom right of the Firefox window. To zoom out click the minus sign. If you want a more precise zoom then click the actual percentage number and type in what you want it to be. Once you've found the zoom you want to use Firefox, follow the steps below to set that zoom for all pages. 1. Repeat steps 1, 2 & 3 above. 2. Select apply following zoom to all pages. 3. Type in the zoom you want. 4. Click ok. 5. Restart firefox, then you're done. I know that this is much longer than changing your resloution, but I strongly recommend you do it this way. Changing your resolution may distort your computers, and when you watch videos in fullscreen they may appear to be distorted. Hope this helps.

Other answers

You can either make everything larger by changing your resolution: go to your desktop right click, click properties go to settings tab and drag the slider bar to the left. Or you can make just the font of the computer larger by going to the same place and then instead of moving the slider click advanced, another window comes up and under the general tab you can change your DPI to a larger value. In most browsers if you hold Ctrl and then scroll with your mouse wheel it makes the font larger or smaller.
