How do you get a song from windows media player onto itunes (read details!)?

  • I downloaded a song WITH THE MUSIC VIDEO from a website onto windows media player, but i want to get it onto iTunes but it doesn't let me, i think because of the music video. and they put the song as a playlist, and i can't get it onto music. i've also tried going onto itunes and clicking 'file' and then 'add file' but it just doesn't put the song onto itunes. Does anyone know how to get it from windows media player onto iTunes? (and this song doesn't sell on itunes or in america so I can't buy it.) Thanks. ^_^

    The issue here isn't a Windows Media Player or iTunes problem... but one I usually call "operator error" In this case you have several fundamental misunderstandings about how things really work. First digital music or Video are "Data" and data is in the form of "files" There is no music "in" iTunes or windows media player, files are stored in folders on your hard drive, all you really do is tell the PROGRAM "iTunes" or WMP where to find them. Now that being said file type is important. For sure you can download You Tube, Vivo or several other Videos web sites, but what file type is is? WMV? mp4? flv? The next part is that trying to get iTunes to recognize a VIDEO file as Audio isn't going to be easy, maybe impossible. the direct way won't work, so... be indirect and convert the video file to an audio file. There are various free programs that will do this (YouTube Downloader) and convert a video file to a far smaller audio file...

The only way I've found is to copy the song on a blank cd and then upload the cd to iTunes You can get erasable CDs at any store that sells electronics for like $10
