Why won't my CD drive work?

Why wont my cd drive work!?!?!?

  • when i enter a game disk into my hp laptop it doesnt run the content of the disk. everything else works dvds, blank cds, and burning cds, but games do not work. WTF!?!?!?!

    In that case, either your CD drive is broken, the drivers somehow got screwed up, or one of the cords inside of your computer has become disconnected. You can try reinstalling the drivers. Just find out the model number of your drive and search the manufacturer's website for drivers (or just uninstall the ones you've got and restart your computer. Windows should find drivers for it automatically). If that doesn't work, unplug your computer and open it up and make sure that everything is properly connected to your CD Drive. If everything is already plugged in fine, then your CD drive is probably broken. Just go replace it. Don't worry, though, because they're dirt cheap.

Make sure you have tried running the game by double clicking the icon in your My Computer folder with the game in the drive. Try using multiple games, it's possible that this one is broken/unreadable.
