What caused my monitor to suddenly get darker?

• hello, I have a flat panel LCD monitor - http://www.google.com/products/catalog?rlz=1C1GGLS_enUS320US320&sourceid=chrome&q=viewsonic++va912b&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=1603223582065502376&ei=xAX-Sdn2L4bflQfxprGWCw&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resn , this one here and I am having some problems with it. sometimes when I press the power button on the monitor to turn it off it blinks , makes a sort of clicking sound then the monitor turns right back on, I can not get it to stay turned off, when i put the computer to sleep or turn it off the monitor goes into stand by / low power mode fine, but I can not turn it off with the button. now after maybe 10 minutes of trying I can get it to turn off, but then it wont turn back on, ill press the power button and the screen wont light up but the power indicator light on the monitor starts blinking green, if i turn it off / on long enough and play with the power cord and the cord connected to the computer it will eventualy turn back on. does anyone know what this might be caused by and if its something major how much it cost to have fixxed? at the moment my solution is just not turn the monitor off and put the computer into sleep mode. thanks for any help

  If it's the power switch, and it's easy to get to, it shouldn't cost more than $35 or so. If it's the power supply itself, it's whatever ViewSonic will charge you for one. You'll need someone to diagnose the problem for you, though - it can't be done here unless someone has that monitor and had the same problem (with some products, most of them have the same problem).
