Why do I keep running out of disk space?

Amount of free space on Drive C changes often, even after running Disk Cleanup and deleting programs and files?

  • I keep running Disk Cleanup and deleting software, files and Recycle Bin but throughtout the day the amount of free space keeps droping. Last night it was 963MB, when I turned the computer on today it was 23.3MB, ran Disk Cleanup again, it changed to 68MB, but later went down to 117MB and then 113MB, I have Norton Security and found no viruses or malware. What could be causing this and is there a fix available. My computer has slowed down and I get low memory messages too.

Your computer might be suffering from different problems to improve its performance you should: >> Scan your computer with an antivirus >> Apply De-fragmentation on your system >> Delete all temporary files >> Run disc clean up >> Run Reginout scan.

I don't know what Version of Windows your running but disk defragmenter, in XP requires 17% of free space to function correctly, otherwise it considers your drive full, same could be said for disk cleanup? Configure you browser(s) not to save history, run Ccleaner to tidy your drive (freeware)

It's normal. And low memory has nothing to do with disk space usage. You can use a program like WinDirStat to determine what's using your disk space.
