How to change icons on Macbook?

My icons are all windows explorer icons. How do I change them back without effecting other users ?

• I tried to open a document and Microsoft Word 07 said it couldn't open it. So I let it open it in wordpad. I then realized all my icons were wordpad icons. When I tried to make google chrome work, by letting the system open it with Internet Explorer, it changed all the icons to that instead! Help! I really don't want to -wipe out the computer -effect other users -notify my dad of the situation :) -delete programs -download

• Answer:

  Hold "Shift" and Right click on the document... Now choose "Open With" Then click "Choose Program..." (Choose this even if you see MS word as one of the options) Select Microsoft Word Then put a checkmark in the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" Then click "OK" DONE!! Also, you can do the same thing for other types of files. like xls you can use MS Excel to open them. This should get it all fixed up for you.
