How can I get my DVDs to play again?

How can I get Netflix DVDs to play on my PC?

  • I have ordered a couple of DVDs from Netflix which refuse to play on my laptop. The computer doesn't even recognize that there is a disk in the drive. I requested a new DVD of the first movie, but that one would not play either and neither will the one I have at home currently. Other DVDs that I own will play without a problem and it can read CDs so I know it is not the disk drive. I can stream movies from the Netflix site without a problem; it is just the DVDs that refuse to play. Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening, and/or suggestions on how to get them to play? Thanks!

    I've had that with Blockbuster. Some of the disks get so badly abused that they just don't work. Keep reordering.

Never had that problem. does it read standard DVD's that you OWN? http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html if it is a copyright issue this will rip through anything. make sure your DVD drive on your laptop SAYS "DVD" also the discs might be dual layer which would not be read by a standard DVD drive. It might be getting old or dirty... this happens, it can read/burn cd's but not dvd's it is getting old and breaking down. just like the original ps2 which would stop reading DVD's and PS2 games but still play music cd's
