A file folder on my external drive containing photos, has somehow become a .mov file, vs a folder with images?

Using windows vista, and i have a 500gb external drive that i store all of my photos on. One of my folders containing about 40mb worth of jpg files is now a .mov file. I thought that maybe someone zipped it and then changed the file extention, but no go. Not recognized as .mov if attempting to play it, can open it as an archive and quite frankly i'm dumbfounded by the fact that a folder has converted itself into a file !?!? Help, i need to get my pics out of that folder !!

Answer:
scan it with virus scanner and malware scanner, and/or backspace .mov and type in anything you want, hit ok.
