Internet Explorer, hiding desktop icons, and wallpaper issue?
-
Alright, this is going to be kind of convoluted. So, a while back, I tried to hide my desktop icons, and then all of a sudden my wallpaper became distorted; it was like I'd just zoomed into one corner of my wallpaper. It was annoying and frustrating because I really no longer wanted to have my desktop icons show for aesthetic reasons. If I hid the icons, the wallpaper became distorted, but if I showed the icons, it made the wallpaper normal again. A friend of mine said it might have something to do with Internet Explorer, and so I just uninstalled the browser since I didn't use it at all. Lo and behold, my wallpaper stayed the same when I hid my desktop icons. The thing is, now I kind of need Internet Explorer because one of the sites I need to use will ONLY work in Internet Explorer and it's really imperative that I use that one website. I don't want that issue with my wallpaper, though. Does anyone know what exactly is making Internet Explorer distort my wallpaper when I hide desktop icons? TL;DR: Having Internet Explorer on my computer distorts my wallpaper when I hide desktop icons. Anyone know why?

Answer:
What the? How does a web browser interfere of what the wallpaper looks like? What OS do you have and did you do all the windows update? Which way did you hide your desktop icons? From some software or Control Panel? Check to see if hiding your icons changes your screen resolution. Your friend must have been really lucky to figure a web browser interferes with a wallpaper. Ask him again and see if he gets you lucky again.

Microsoft gives you some free software (IE, Wordpad, etc.) that are better than nothing, but not really any good. You could use Firefox with the IE Tab addon to get to improperly written sites (those that don't accept real browsers) without having the IE GUI installed.
