Why am I not able to burn files onto CD?

Why can't I burn files onto my cd?

  • I have windows XP Pro and the CD I'm using is a Memorex CD-RW and it can hold up to 650MB and there is nothing on the CD. Whenever I try to burn pictures onto the cd with the Wizard program it says, " There is no disc in the drive. Please insert a writable CD into drive D:/ " And there is a cd already inserted. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Could someone please help me?

  • Answer:

Hi Kitsro I would guess you are doing nothing wrong, there are two possibilities, one the disk is a faulty disk or not compatible this must be the biggest problem for a lot of people. This why buying a whole cake of disks is a risky business. Some cd recorders do not like certain disks. I find that if my usual disks are not available, i only purchase a few to try them as this is the problem. there is always a problem, with software some rejects disks also. try and find a new piece of software such as Nero but be careful. so many times even this does not work. it can get expensive finding the right combination.

you probably can't use a cd/rw cd..I know you know that means they are re writable..and some machines wont write on rw's and if they do it maight be you cant play them on a typical cd player...this applies especially to music ..since commonly we are burning music to play in the car or portable players..and although most players see the common format and files...re writes..may not be common
