How could someone turn off my yahoo messenger from a different computer?

Can you track someone through Yahoo Messenger?

Someone broke my car window and stole my computer a while back. The Yahoo Messenger on that computer automatically logs in when you turn on the computer. The person who stole my computer still uses that screen name I used and it notifies me when they are online since I have that screen name on my friends list on my computer at home. So is there anyway I can track their location?
Answer:

I've heard you can track a computer location via instant messaging services that log in automatically because they starting pinging. However, I'm not positive how to legally go about that. I suggest going to whoever you originally filed the police report with and let them know your "new founded information" and ask them what to do. :)
