How to delete file that has invalid name?

How to delete file with no name?

  • It is clear that I've downloaded a trojan/virus, but I want to avoid reinstalling Windows. I have a file on the desktop that has no name. It won't delete through windows, nor in safe mode. Deleting through a command prompt doesn't work either, because there is no file name to use. Tried Pocket Killbox, but that won't work for the same reason. It appears as a blank file type, just a white rectangle icon, no name. AVG virus, AVG Anti-Spyware, and windows defender don't return any results. Advice?

  • Answer:

Try doing a system restore to a date before the file showed up on your desk top.
