Will this laptop run The Sims 3?

Will Sims 3 run on my new laptop?

  • I've just got a new advent laptop and I'm not very good at computers and things. I want to get sims 3 but I'm not sure if it will work on this laptop! I've done a "Can you run it?" thingy someone told me about and that says I don't have enough CPU or CPU speed which I dont know what thats means or how to fix it. The laptop is only a week old lol and I really want sims 3! Anything else just ask. Thanks k x

    Your processor is dual core, and Sims 3 requires a single core 2.4 ghz processor. It's a low-end dual core, but it's still dual core. You're fine in that respect. However, you don't mention what graphics chip you have, and that is what will determine whether you can actually run it or not.

Yep! It'll work, in fact, thats basically my laptop you just explained there. I have the Sims 3, and it works great! The only problem is that every half an hour (in real life time) you get a 30 second lag. It isn't bad at all! I enjoy it and it runs great!

On a laptop you can't "fix" the CPU. You would have to buy a new more powerful laptop. An Intel Celeron is about the cheapest and slowest type of chip architecture out there. You won't be able to play much of anything on that. The minimum type of chip you want to buy nowadays is a dual core (Intel Core 2 Duo).

The CPU isnt fast enough and you cant upgrade it. If you can return your computer and exchange it for another do, otherwise you are out of luck. Lesson is, next time you buy a computer you should probably do some research and find out if it meets your needs, and educate yourself on what system requirements you want. Its like buying a house without looking inside or at the yard.
