Why cannot I open attachments sent to my email?

I can not open some attachments sent to me in an email?

  • i have un-installed some things on my laptop, an now i cant open these attachments. what do i need to do or reinstall for free to be able to open them, please make it simple as im not very good with computers. it wont open things like Excel Spreadsheet file.

Reinstall the programs you took off. Of course you can't open the files without the program that understands the format.

Depends on what format the attachment is in, for example if the attachment is a word document, then u need word to open it, if it is a pdf document then you need adobe reader to open it etc. etc. If as you say it is an Excel document, have you got office fully installed on your laptop?, if not, you need to install it.

i think u uninstalled microsoft office try installing it may fix the problem

I could probably fix it if I was there, but... Your best bet would be to do a system restore to a date before you uninstalled those "things" when everything worked properly. I'm not sure which operating system you're on but I'll assume it's either Windows XP, Vista or 7. Do a web search (using Yahoo, Google, etc.) of "how to use windows <insert version here> system restore" or something similar. One of the results will tell you how to do it and that should fix your problem.
