How to set up email on blackberry?

I have a Blackberry Style 9670 running OS6 and I can't figure out how to set up email. I don't have a data plan, but I have perfectly fine wi-fi at my house. I have a friend who has the same phone plan I do from the same carrier and he was able to set it up from his house wi-fi, and it works great (he has a torch, also on OS6). I can get emails from Facebook (I have unlimited social networking) but nothing else. Help?
