How can I get this video clip into windows movie maker?

I have windows 7, and I downloaded Windows movie maker 2.6 so I could edit this video I made and upload it to my facebook. I imported the clips onto my hard drive, and I am not able to get any of the video clips to import into movie maker. The files are .MOD, and I don't know how to change that, or if I need to. Everytime I try and search for the clip to import it, it isn't there. I then tried to open the clip with movie maker, and I got an error. Someone please help me. This is VERY frustrating.
