Urgent help.. microsoft word.. you've got to be kidding...?
-
this has happened a few times now, for the same subject specifically but that's beside the point. I just spent about two hours making a advertisement for my english class. I close the word document, and i tried to open it again and i get this STUPID ERROR MESSAGE that has come up before and i couldnt figure it out. but i refuse to lose this document the thing is due tomorrow and there's no way in hell i'm losing it. I don't know if it's a problem with my usb or microsoft word but i get this message is there anything i can do? "the document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions. *check the file permissions for the document or drive. *use the file open dialog box to locate the document. (G:\Doc1.doc) ?!? all i did was close the damn file. I HATE LIFE!!! AHH!!!! its 11:45 pm all i wanted to do was go to sleep now this has happened. its due tomorrow..

Answer:
try opening the document with another text processor, try acrobat reader or microsoft works or the simple wordpad, try also checking that you didnt mess up the extention, if its office 2007 it should be docx if not its just doc, but whether it is a problem with word or not it could have been an error at saving, even if you open it in programming style it will still be damaged if this is the case so this is hopeless, if you are in highschool, middleschool or something like that try explaining it to the teacher if you are a good student and havent missed assignments he/she might give you an extra day, if not idk, figure it out or contact microsoft i have heard that they get preety concerned when their program fails, and if they dont help contact one of microsofts competitors.

If G: is a flash drive, that might be the problem. I've heard rumors that Word might not like reading and/or writing from/to flash drives. Try using an intermediate file on a hard disk and copy it to or from the flash drive with Windows Explorer. Hope that helps (probably too late for this assignment, though.)

I don't know that much but have you put the document on a thumb drive? If so, is the thumb drive lockable - you have have hit a switch that locked it so you cannot get to, or edit the document you saved there. From the error you are getting "check the file permissions for the document or drive", it appears you have done something that won't allow you to access the file. Check your word settings - did you protect the document? If you can get to it and "unprotect" it, that might help. I hope it works for you..good luck

try copying the file and put in someplace else (like on your desktop). Then try opening that copy of the file. It may not be a problem with the file. It may be a problem with your usb drive.

Try clicking file - save as and save it to the desktop.
