What are fossil tracks and how are they made?

Made a CD, some tracks are skipping- how can I solve this?

  • I burned a CD and some of the tracks are skipping or sound fuzzy. Looking at it further I saw that the ones which are doing this are the tracks I bought from iTunes rather than the ones I ripped from my own CDs- is there any reason for this and is there any way to stop it? I tried burning the CD at slower speeds but if anything that made it worse, as almost all of the tracks started skipping or not working entirely.

  • Answer:

Hmmm - I would have said it's down to burning slower but you say that's not it. Happened to me a while back and I took a Q-tip and cleaned the read head with alcohol. Worked perfectly afterwards. Try a different player. If it works there you have a dirty read head.

maybe a scratch on the Cd?or dirt ? give it a clean .

Most likely it's the quality of CD you're using. Some peel off right away and destroy information. If the CD is just scratched you might want to clean it with a little bit of baby oil as opposed to the popular alcohol treatment. Alcohol will clean out dirt - making the cracks more clear while baby oil will provide the scratches with a temporary filler. Good luck.
