I want to download videos from sites like the guardian how can i do it?

i used the DAP(download accelerator plus) on my pc to download files. but it cant download the vieos form sites like guardian.co.uk. actually there is a toolbar known speed bit video downloader but it doesnt download all the videos. it downloads only a few videos and most of the times it says plays the video to download. but i play the videos and still start downloading the videos. so can you guys suggest me a software or download manager which can download vidoes from any site or any particular webpage. and it should be free.
