My computer can't support iTunes 9.0! Can I get my old version back?
-
I opened iTunes today and a message popped up. It asked me if I wanted to install iTunes 9.0. So I unchecked the box for Safari and the other thing (don't remember what it was) and left the box for iTunes and QuickTime checked. I let that install and after it was done, I tried to open iTunes again. My computer made a sound and a message popped up saying that iTunes 9.0 runs only with QuickTime 7.6.4. I have 7.6.2. It told me to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. The problem with that is, I don't want to lose my music (over 2000 songs!) So...... What I'm wondering is..... Can I uninstall the newer version of iTunes to get my older version back? If so, how do I do that? If not, is there any way I can download the required version of QuickTime to my computer for free? If I have to resort to uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and I have my music on my iPod, is there any way to transfer all that music from my iPod to iTunes? Please give me a valid, helpful answer..... It's my sister's birthday and I got her an iTunes card. And clearly she can't use it if iTunes isn't working.

Answer:
Calm down? You can download QuickTime free from Apple. Just google "download quicktime", the default download will be the most recent version. You can also get iTunes back to the other version if you want. Just delete the application, then google "iTunes 8 download" and you'll find that too. Your music is stored separately, so that shouldn't be an issue, though you might have to point the newly reinstalled iTunes to where your library is (look in the Preferences pane to do this). If you're paranoid, or think you're likely to mess up, back up your library on an external drive first. All these downloads are free, you'll be fine.

My computer did the same. After I downloaded Quicktime, it said if I want to use the iTunes store, I need to download Safari 4 so when I tried to download that, it said it wouldn't run on my computer cos I need something else that my computer wont let me download Stupid computers :\
First try updating Quick Time. Open QT, click on Help and select Update exhisting software, Select Update Now. If that does not work try this: In your Music folder (My Music) locate the iTunes folder. Move it to another location like your desktop for safe keeping. Remove both iTunes and Quick Time (Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs or Control Panel, Programs and Features in Vista). Reinstall QT and iTunes together from apple.com. After you re-install iTunes, it will create a new iTunes folder in your Music folder. Replace that new folder with the one you moved earlier. All your song should be saved. Enjoy!
Install the right version of QuickTime: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ 7.6.4 is available for download. Install it and then try to launch iTunes 9.

Updating that should allow 9.0 to then load since that was the reason you gave for it not loading. Its not that your computer can't support it, you just have to upgrade quicktime.
