How do I fix a Spooler subsystem app error?

Spooler SubSystem App error.?

  • I am using Corel Draw X4 in Windows XP Pro. I am trying to print a file that I have printed before. Now when I try to print I get an error that the Spooler SubSystem App has encountered a problem and has to close. My document does not print. I tried a fix from Microsoft and I reinstalled the printer. How can I make it work?

Other answers

What OS are you running and what's the make and model of the printer? Does the problem only occur with Corel Draw or does it happen with all documents? This may or may not help - I've found it works sometimes for network printers but I'm not sure about local ones. Try deleting the printer. Boot into Safe Mode. Stop the Spooler by going to the command line and typing 'net stop spooler' (without the quotes). Then go to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Printers and delete all files. Restart the spooler by typing 'net start spooler'. Reboot. Reinstall the printer. You may have a corrupt registry key, which means trying to use a registry cleaner like ccleaner to wipe out all traces of the printer and then reinstall it.
