How can I use my Windows mail? is it the same as outlook use?
-
At my workplace I can use the outlook well. I found in my BC at home which has windows vista "windows mail'. it looks like the outlook at my BC in workplace. But when I try to send something from my home's bc, I have to fill out the following informaiton in the wizard: Display Name, Email address, incoming mail server, outgoing mails server. email user name and password. furthermore, there are jargons such as POP3 which I don't know. I have some choices regarding the servers, but I don't understand any of them to choose the right one. I need your help. I want to use my windows mail, because I want to create my emails in the best formats I can do as I do in my workplace. thanks in advance!

Answer:
right... windows mail which is the default mail client which comes with vista was originally intended to be the successor to outlook, but they scrapped this after a while. now they intend the successor to be windows live mail. this is a similar programs, you write emails with etc but it is a little easier to set up and can be used with a hotmail or gmail account without any tricky stuff to set up. get it here: http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview one thing to point out is that yahoo will not work with this unless you pay to upgrade your yahoo account to the premium service offered by yahoo. you dont have to pay for hotmail or gmail, so i would reccommend you just use one of those. on account set up you just have to enter your email address and password and the thing sets up it all for you, no jargon.

You need to find out the incoming (pop) and outgoing (smtp) server names from the host of your email domain (from which ever company supplies your email account).. the username is usually the bit before the @ symbol of your email address.. . and you need to know what your password is.. and whether authentication is enabled for incoming/and/or/outgoing servers.. .. display name is just any name you want others to see.. like your first and last name with a space in between.

yes, it is the same as outlook though it does have more formatting options.
