What is a "strong reading" of a text?

What on earth is up with Microsoft's voice recognition, and text reading software? it sounds awful?

  • i finally found some "reader voices" which are much better, like at this site http://www.freedomscientific.com/downloads/RealSpeak-Solo-Direct-Voices/RealSpeak-Solo-Direct-Downloads.asp and others ... i heard "Dragon Dictate" is also much better than Microsoft, but i'm just wondering why Microsoft doesn't get with the program, because to put it quite simply ... i just don't have the money to pay for these nicer programs, developed by 3rd party private companies Bill Gates likes to get his hands in everything .. why doesn't he focus on this ... i know i'm not the only one getting tired of typing and reading all day

  • Answer:

Because Microsoft doesn't *need* to focus on voice recognition and text reading. > i heard "Dragon Dictate" is also much better than Microsoft Of course they are. The company that made Dragon Dictate specializes in that kind of field, and they've been around for a longer time than Microsoft had been working on speech. The voice recognition in Vista is already good enough (as long as you have a good microphone). Whats the point of wasting time on developing speech for Windows when their market share is already so high? If people wanted a superior speech app, they would invest in Dragon Dictate.
