How to add an icon to my desktop from the start menu?

• when i press the start button on my laptop, i have wondows live movie maker but i want to add it to my desktop as an icon off of there, how do i do that?

  Well One thing you can do is left click on the icon you wish to bring to your desktop hold it make sure the icon you chose is right and that it is high lighted once you have dragged it to your desktop simply let go of the left key on the mouse and your icon should stay on the desktop now if this does not work then their is an issue but do not worry the easiest way to fix that problem is go to my computer click on local disk c go to programs folder search for the program that you wish to have a icon of open that folder find the icon you are looking for then right click scroll through the box that pops up to the choice that say create a shortcut click that and a shortcut icon should apear within that folder simply drag that icon to desktop and their you go if you feel this helps please vote for me and if you need more help contact me on my profile and i will get back to you bye bye
