How do you open a MS Office Word 2007 document file ?!?!?

  • Someone saved me a document file on USB, BUT it is in the newest MS office word 2007 version. I don't have MS office 2007. My computer's MS office word 2003 program won't open that file. [how dumb, MS word 2007 document is not compatible with MS word 2003, how much dumber can microsoft get] How can I open that file now ? I 've even tried , right click "open with..." program option but it still won't open that MS 2007 word file? What should I do now , Please help out !!!

    Microsoft offers a free Compatibility Pack that enables earlier versions of Office (2000, 2002, 2003) to read and write the new 2007 .docx file format. Hope that helps.
