How can i open the .avi files at sony vegas?

Problem with .avi files on Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8.0?

I just bought SVMS and when I import my .avi files (the majority of my files) and drag them on the timeline, it only plays the sound. What can I do apart from converting these files?

download K-Lite Codecs321...their multi-media interactive plugins...download...tick the boxes if you wish...thats all...job done...now try your vids

You probably need to install the codecs. Download and install the K-Lite Codec Pack, and you should be good. It contains software to playback virtually any type of file: http://www.free-codecs.com/K_lite_codec_pack_download.htm
