Where is Bouna Vista CC?

Does windows vista need updates?

  • Okay so my mum was given a laptop by a friend it seems to be running slow. I've download cc cleaner and avg and got rid of a few issues it had. Now on the internet 'internet explorer' it says there's an update, but I can't update it because I don't have the right updates, I've ran 'windows updates' and there was 2 major ones updated about a week ago. The laptop is quite old, so do you have to update windows vista some how? Or am I barking up the wrong tree, I know the basics of computers, but I'm not a computer wizz. Any ideas to make it speed up ? Pleaseee (I've also deleted programmes I don't need )

Windows Vista is a crime against humanity and your best solution would be to strip it down and install windows xp from scratch. however, if you don't want to do this, it is likely that you can speed it up by cleaning up the registry. You say that you are not a computer whizz, so I wouldn't recommend trying to do it manually. there are plenty of registry clean-up programs available that will fix broken links and delete unwanted stuff that is being run at startup and slowing your machine down. Something like 'Fix It Utilities' would do the job - you could buy an earlier version quite cheaply if all you want is the registry maintenance utilities.

Well, We suggest you to update it. What do patch, update and service packs really mean? First of all, all programs are a bundle of different code files, images, active-x files like dll and ocx etc. Whenever any programmer rights a program code or a simple component code, he does it to his best but then the errors emerge. Because of a single error in a component of a bigger program, the program may crash. Whenever we send that typical error report to the manufacturer, it helps the manufacturer to localize problems. Then they take out a patch. You install the patch and erring component is replaced by a better version with many solutions. Normally, when many patches are available, depending upon the seriousness of an error or time or frequency of error, the manufacturer takes out an update. Normally the update may carry new functionalities as well. Do you want to continue with a car that gives you continuos problems? I suppose no. You need to repair it. This is what UPDATES does exactly. Do updates consume more memory and space? No. The solution may occupy less memory or more of it. It depends upon the solution. It is also possible that a complete program has been updated and occupies much less space. It all depends. And an operating system like Windows or Linux with hundreds of services and pre-installed programs, can you imagine the number of updates available after one year? Instead of upgrading 100's of components, the manufacturers pack everything in a fiale and say "THIS IS A SERVICE PACK". Every imperfect thing needs updates.
