Sony Vaio built in webcam not working anymore?

How do I turn on my built in webcam on my pc?

  • So my video was working fine yesterday but I tried skyping someone just now and it said that the webcam is not detected, which is weird because I have a built in webcam!! I've tried other things to detect it and they all say the same thing, which is that they cannot detect the webcam. How do I turn it on? btw I have a Sony Vaio

  • Answer:

Seeing that this is a recent event, try restoring your computer to a date before yesterday. Go to the Control Panel, System, System Protection, System Restore and choose a date before yesterday. This will not affect your data....just the system. You could also check the Device Manager, in the Control Panel, Imaging Devices. Your camera should be there. Right click on the camera and if disabled, click on Enable.

Did you reboot? Sometimes, a hardware driver can get stuck. You can also go to the Sony website, select your laptop model, and download a new driver for the webcam.
