Question about MINI SD card.. not being detected... WILL CHOOSE BEST ANSWER!!!?

Ok, i have had this micro sd and micro sd card reader, that plugs into the usb port into my computer for about 6 years.... the micro SD card reader was the one that came with the SD Card.... I plug it into the computer with the micro sd card inside... and the light that says that the micro sd card is connected to the sd card reader is lite.... but when i open "MY COMPUTER" then "REMOVEABLE DISK (G)" i get an error saying "Please insert disk into Removeable disk (G)" the card is in the reader... its in snug... i as well... right clicked on "My computer" and pressed "manage" then "disk management" but only drives that show up are "D" and "C" no G or removeable disk.... But when i had my mp3 player i could stick the sd card into it... and use the ipod as an "sd card reader" to see all the data on the card... it seems like this sd card reader should be working because the lights on... the card is SNUG inside of it... anyone have any advice before i try to buy another card reader??? I WILL CHOOSE BEST ANSWER i blew in it as well.. there is no dust any where in the card or the reader......

Tell me. Is the mini-SD card of the type "SDHC" - It will say "SDHC" on the card somewheres. If so, it is possible that your mini-SD card reader does not support SDHC cards. I had this problem with a reader a while back. It lights up because it does detect an SD card in the slot, but the way SDHC cards work is different enough that an SD card reader cannot read them. SDHC readers are backwards-compatible (meaning you can use a regular SD card in an SDHC reader)

i had that problem once...blew in it and it worked fine. i would buy a new one. you got 6 years out of it.
