How can I record directly from a keyboard onto a computer?

I want to record music from my keyboard to my computer i have the lead but don't know what software i need?

please can anyone reccommend free downloadable software so that i can record from my keyboard

you can download a demo of Mixcraft, its ikind of like garage band, I used it for a little while when I didnt have money, I recorded keyboards, guitars, drums, and bass,
