Where did the word computer come from?

New Computer did not come with Microsoft Word?

  • I just bought a new Computer (XPS Dell with Windows 7) There is no writing program like Microsoft Word. I thought that it was always included with the computer and the computer price? I've bought several computers from Dell as it is my favored brand, and they have ALWAYS come with Microsoft Word. Why the change? Did they stop including it in the price or something?

  • Answer:

It is NEVER included in the price of the machine unless you request it or it is listed in the spec. Buy it and install it.

No Microsoft word is a seperate program, you should have checked before hand if office was included. There is a chance Micorosoft Office Starter edition may come with it. But there is a word application included, its called Word Pad. Which is a very minimally featured microsoft word. If you want a free version of word like programs you can try Open Office or Libre Office. http://www.libreoffice.org/ http://www.openoffice.org But ya Microsoft Word is extra, and usually not included in the price. Its "Extra"
