Do I need Windows Media Player?

Need help with a runtime error in Windows Media Player 11 that is driving me mad!?

  • I am currently using Windows Media Player 11 on Windows 7 RC. I keep getting a runtime error when I playback music, usually every 30-60 mins. It means I have close the program and re-open it which is kind of annoying. This problem does not occur if I am watching video with Media Player, only if I am playing music. If anyone could help me with this I would be very grateful! The error message is as follows: "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

  • Answer:

You can try re-installing it, updating it, or check for the latest VC++ runtime from Microsoft. However, Windows 7 RC is a beta release and is not the GM final relase or RTM version and bugs will be in it. Not everything is in place yet.
