How can I put pictures on wikipedia.org?

Why can't I put pictures onto my DVD-R disc!?

  • Okay, so I have two Maxell DVD-R discs in front of me. They are both from the same pack, and both say they can hold 4.7GB of data (meaning music OR pictures, etc.) I've used both discs before, on this specific computer, putting pictures on them, but I just tried to use them again a few minutes ago and only one works. Ex, both of them are supposed to say this when I put them into the CD-ROM drive... The Autoplay thing pops up and says: Import pictures, view pictures, etc. using different programs, and "General options" says "Open folder to view files using windows explorer." Then it allows me to copy and paste the pics I want, onto the disc. This is what it's supposed to say, and it does so for one of the discs, but when I put the other one in, it just says: "Burn a DVD data disc (in Windows media player), burn files to disc, and burn dvd video disc (using windows dvd maker.)" Why do both discs say something different when they're the same "brand" or whatever, and why doesn't the second disc work when, like I said before, I've used it plenty of times before, and it worked perfectly then!! Not to mention I have a lot of pics already on this one...did it delete them all, by itself?? The only other choice I have is to choose to "burn" the files, but how would I do that? And which one of these should I do, "live file system" or "mastered"?? I don't understand why it can't just let me View the folder I already had on it!! Please help!

Right, if you can not put photos on the disk on my computer (if it is a DVD-RW) then you will have to download a special burning program on to your computer, then once you have downloaded the program start it up and put the photos you want on to the program, then insert the blank disc and then start burning, hope this helps. Hi The file types must be different on each disc and your setting for open with are not the same for each file type like tiff jpeg or others. And the discs may have been burnt using different methods like drag and drop and may be nero used on one to make a data disc.

I presume you're using 'multi session' on these DVD's which wastes space. I'll also assume, like most people, you take no notice of how big the file sizes are on your multi megapixel camera because Windows is showing you a photo size image. A 10 MP camera at highest settings produces a picture that would almost fill a wall - they are enormous! You think it's small because the photo viewer is shrinking it automatically - it's not Using an image resizer like 'irfanview' you can easily make those pictures at least 10 times smaller by reducing the resolution to 800 x 600 instead of it's real resolution of thousands x thousands. DVD's are a poor medium for long time storage anyway, they degrade after about 3 or 4 years, they scratch easily and they can only be reliably read (with certainty) on the machine that burnt them. Shrink them to a more reasonable size and put them on a USB flash drive instead. They can be read by any PC, are difficult to accidentally damage and shouldn't degrade as quickly
