How do I make a reflective metal on photoshop?

How to make a patterned background on photoshop 7.0?

  • i have photoshop elements 7.0 and i want to make a patterned background like you see on the site models on myspace example : http://www.myspace.com/what_the_hay_contests or http://www.myspace.com/signaturescenelayouts i am kind of new at photoshop and i know alot about it, and i am fairly good at it, i just want to know how to make the backgrounds/images like these ones. i also want to know how to make the images mirror each other, how to make the pictures "come to life" or come out of the frames, and how to make the glowing beam things like on the sprint commercials but you see in the pictures wrapped around people or something. any tips/info appreciated c: best answer gets 10 pts.

  • Answer:

Create a new layer and call it "pattern". Go to blending options and there should be a option for pattern overlay. Choose your pattern, download a pattern from the internet, or make your own. Once you have the pattern select your entire thing you want to put the pattern on (make sure the moving lines are around it) and click the paint bucket tool. Hold alt and click the pattern layer then paste it onto the pattern. You might want to adjust the opacity to make the pattern less visible.

look here for brushes and back grounds http://www.deviantart.com/#catpath=resources/applications&order=24 also to make that "glow" left click on the layer and on the layer properties and adjust the inner and outer glow. some of my works not good though:http://s716.photobucket.com/albums/ww167/saulisrztk/

Okay, first of all, we can't see the patterns your talking about because the profiles are private. Now, really, unless you want to take hours creating a background, it's best just to find one online and then do the stuff with it. Mirroring, I can help with. You need 2 layers. On the first layer, post your photo wherever you want it to be. On the second layer, post the same photo directly on top of where you posted the first. Now, go to Image > Rotate > Flip vertical. Now move the upside down photo to the exact bottom of the first photo. Go to the opacity settings and adjust them to your liking to make it look like a reflection. This works best on a black background, with a slight gradient in the middle that looks like a platform on which the first photo is placed, so it doesn't look like it's floating on air. If you want the reflection to fade out, the easiest way is just to get a very large, soft edged eraser and wipe it across the very bottom of the reflection photo. This will give it a fade-out effect. The other things you want to do can't be done very well without a CS version of Photoshop, which is significantly more expensive. You will also need a full tutorial for those, more than I can give you here. As far as a glowing beam thing goes, I have never tried that, but I'd assume that you could do it by creating a black background, and draw a bright color over it with a brush (soft or solid) on another layer, and apply a motion blur (Filter > Blur > Motion Blur) at a distance of about 40 pixels. Hope I helped.
