Where To Fine Product Keys?

Using product keys for different versions of Windows Vista..?

  • I currently have a product key for Windows Vista Home Basic but I need to reformat my comp. But I lost the windows CD. I borrowed a Windows Vista Business from my friend. Can i use my old product key for a different version?

  • Answer:

I am a microsoft partner, and it works like this. There are only two physical media discs for Vista. Enterprise and Everything else. When you enter your old OEM key it should work, it may complain about needing to activate, but it should work. If you have an enterprise disc, you need to find other media. Physically all versions of the same bit depth (32 bit / 64 bit) are on the same disc, other than enterprise, it stands alone. Alternitavly you can resolve this by getting hooked into Windows Intune, which will give you Enterprise versions of Windows 7 / Vista / and XP Pro for $11 / month / machine, no matter what machine you put it on.

well, Frankly, no you can not use the old one to new version. You also have to bring the new product key for that version. Thanks

Supposedly all of the vista DVDs ship will all versions of the OS on it, and you can "unlock" the version based on your product key. I'm not too sure about the particulars, but from my own experience I know what you're trying to do will work with an ultimate DVD.
