Where Can I Find The Pictures I Deleted?

Can you find old pictures on your computer that were once deleted? If so, how?

  • I have a feeling my daughter may have sent out a pic or two of herself. Possibly over a yahoo mail account but more likely over Facebook messaging. She deletes everything, of course, and I hear things are always on your computer. So is there a way for me to go into anything to find out for sure. I am not a wiz at computers but with a little direction I think I can follow!

    Don't listen to these people that say once it's not in the recycle bin you can never get it back. Nothing on a computer is ever "erased". The location on the hard drive is just marked as not having a file anymore even though the information does still exist, until the computer needs that space for some other piece of data. Chances are it is still on the hard drive somewhere. To recover files that have been deleted you need a piece of software like Zero Assumption Recovery. Keep in mind though finding files may take the machine a considerable amount of time depending on the size of the hard drive because it needs to scan every sector on the drive.

try the recycle bin.

Try Recuva. (Link in Sources) If you send something out over the net, then you have to have put it on the computer. Recuva will search for deleted files of all kinds and give you the option to restore them. If you don't find anything there then you can try doing a search on the computer for *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.png, *.bmp (Those are the most common extensions). To do the search (Depending on your operating system) you can either hit [Windows Key]+F or go to "Find Files" under the start menu. Or if you're running osx you can open finder.

Go to the recycle bin. If everything in the recycle bin is deleted you can't get it back. Try fooling around with her folders too.
