Is it illegal to download youtube video for personal use only?

How can i download a youtube video to use in windows movie maker? i tried keepvid, doesn't work, i tried vixy?

  • i tried Vixy.com and it only downloads the first 20 sec of the video. i tried a few other things. i have been at this for days. i have a vid on youtube and i just want to edit it and add some other stuff and i'm pulling my hair out. going to go run on treadmill and maybe when i come back some computer expert will have an answer for me. thanks sooooooo much for any help.

    Downloading videos from youtube is usually illegal. Besides, even after downloading, Windows Movie Maker doesn't import .FLV format video, so you will need to convert it; which also means a loss of video quality, a relatively high degree of software knowledge, and experience with codec and encoder settings.
