How can i get it to where i can play dvds on my computer?

i put a dvd in and it says i need a dvd decoder so i got on the microsoft .com and saw that i had to pay for it.... there has to be a way to do this without paying anything please help

I'm sure your drive can play DVD's. Try the program, VLC Media Player. It's free and should work wonders on regular files as well as DVD's. Good Luck! http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

first of all try opening the dvd using a program called"power dvd". if that didnt work.try getting some codecs for example divx of xvid codecs,that should help,i that didnt help then i think u have to buy a dvd rom,which allows u to play dvds. hope that helps...
