How do you format an sd card on the computer?

My computer wants to format my 3ds sd card?

  • I'm trying to transfer some pictures from my ds to my computer but when i put the sd card into my computer is says my sd card needs to be formatted. How can i get this to stop and successfully get my pictures?

You can never get it to stop until you format / erase the card. The file system is corrupt. To try to recover data, use PC Inspector or other recovery software. Recovery can be attempted before or after erasing. Which method is best is up for debate, so try both before and after erasing.

The filesystem is corrupt and non-recoverable. The computer knows this, and that's why it's telling you to format it. If you do not have a backup of the pictures, then you are pretty much screwed. There ARE ways to recover the data, but they are inefficient, extremely difficult to do, and usually expensive to carry out.

Idk I just know if you format it will erase everything from it do don't format it.
