Why wont my webcam work on skype?

When i went to make a video call it said there was a problem with the recording device. I have a logitech webcam and when i go into my computer, it doesnt even show up there either. I have no idea why it wont work

You need to download the software. The software for your camera also contains the driver that is needed to use the camera in certain programs. By default Win7 applies a generic driver to plug-n-play devices but does not guarantee it will work with every program.
