How can i get Capture video device in Windows Live Movie Maker?

  • I was previously running Windows Movie Maker 2.1 on Windows XP. The "capture from Video device" option was what I always used when using WMM. My ATI TV tuner came with a composite capture device that plugged directly into the TV tuner. I had my TV setup so the output went into the capture device. I did this in order to capture footage of me playing video games. I just upgraded my XP to Windows 7. I got Windows Live Movie Maker, but there seems to be no "Capture from Video Device" anywhere. I did some searching online, and learned about Windows Live Video Acquire, but that only seems to work with a digital video camera, not a composite capture device. I tried WMM 2.6, but that doesn't have Capture from Video Device, only 2.1 did, but that can only be installed in WinXP. Is there any solution for a composite capture device and windows movie maker (any version) on Windows 7? I'm very familiar with the WMM interface, and would hate to have to use another software, but if I must, I will. Thanks

I think Microsoft got into the DV camera business so took it out and only recommends you buy one of the cameras and then hook it up to the composite connections. You can get the old XP movie maker and manually register it's components and it works most the time. Somebody made a batch file to set it up on the web someplace. Otherwise you need to buy an Apple or put the Apple OS or Linux on your computer.
