Why does Internet Explorer 7.0 crash regularly when I use it?

Like tempo1 said, IE8 is officially out of its beta testing stage and last week the Internet Explorer 8 release candidate (RC1) was made available for download. The release candidate closely resembles what the final version of IE8 will be like, but is still in the final testing stages. I've got Vista Home Premium, and I use Google Chrome. I love it. I've got some friends who use Safari, but I tried it and had a few problems. So, yeah. I'd suggest Chrome.

Sounds like some strange stuff, especially with Firefox not accepting cookies by default... Try running as Administrator or another user account and see what happens? Look in the Windows Event logs and see what they say for IE7 crashes. You could likely be infected with malware. Scan with a good anti-malware package. Also, download the latest Windows Updates. Also, it's good to know if your PC is reliable or not, as crashes are not solvable in software if it's your PC's hardware that's at fault. memtest86, Prime95 are good testing programs.

IE 8 is out of beta and is now RC1. "8" seldom crashes here on my Vista, unlike "7" which would crash several times a day. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/Internet-explorer/beta/default.aspx But I have found these type of problems are often the result of a 3rd party add-on that is conflicted or corrupted. Added on toolbars are notorious in causing crashes. Try this go to Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > Click "Internet Explorer (no add-ons). Now run IE for a good long while and see if the crashing and freezing disappears. If it does help, you must now determine the specific add-on the is causing the problem. Go to Tools > Manage Add-ons and disable, one by one, each of the "Add-ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer" until the problem dissapears. Then either leave it disabled or download and install a new copy of it.

I have exactly the same problem. I use Firefox though. It works like a dream (when you have the correct settings). It will allow you to use yahoo when you let it accept all cookies and put security minimal.
