How do I install Linux on PS3?

My PS3 Won't Install Linux?

  • Ok so I tried to install Linux on my computer. So as I was taught I used a rewritable DVD. I burned the ISO onto the disc and put it in the PS3. The PS3 just recognizes as a data disc and nothing more and refuses to change the operating system. Also: I reformatted my hard drive already so that can't be the problem. I have downloaded just about every version of Linux I know and they were all ISO's but my PS3 is just being AGH. Please help!

    OK, ISO images of Linux are Bootable CDs of it. That means you can boot the computer from them with one in a DVD-ROM and use the OS without touching the hard drive. You can _*also*_ install the OS from bootable cd but you must be able to boot from it to be able to install it. To enable the computer to boot from the CD you must change the settings in the BIOS to boot from CD/DVD-ROM in addition to the Hard drive and Floppy drive (if you even have a floppy). To get into the BIOS and set it PROPERLY you need to get a manual for the computer to follow its directions implicitly! What Linux is on there you need one that says PS3 compatible. Also you go to the system settings and install another OS.
