How To Fix A really Scratched Disk?
-
I Have A Really Scratched Oblivion Disk (xbox 360) , And It Freezes Almost Every 10 Minutes, because the data has been damaged, is there any way for me to download oblivion on to my hard drive and use the disk, or maybe go to some store to repair it?

Answer:
There is no place you can go to fix an Xbox 360 disc, if it was a disc from your computer or a disc for music i would say it can be done but even if you try to make a copy of the disc it won't work on your xbox because consoles like xbox, ps3, and wii have security measures that dont let you play copied disks only originals, and anyone that says different is either lying or just dont know what they are talking about I'm sorry but the only way is to buy a new game

Getting the disk repaired is not an option. Once the data is actually damaged, it is not recoverable. If the data is not actually damaged but just the surface of the disk heavily scratched, you might be able to find a person with a buffing tool (Digital Innovations makes some at http://www.digitalinnovations.com/disc-cleaning-repair/). If it's just one damaged disc, the cost of a buffing tool is probably less than the cost of just buying a replacement disc (http://www.amazon.com/Oblivion-5th-Anniversary-ed-Xbox-360/dp/B0050JN7VU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313069424&sr=8-1).

You may not be able to make a working copy of the disk but it operates the same way that a music CD or Video disk does - a laser is reflected from the surface. If just the surface is scratched (hopefully not too deep) then it may be possible to resurface it to make it operable. This can be done at your local video store (Blockbuster?). Most of them have machines to resurface their own disks and should not cost more than about 5 dollars. DO NOT try any home remedies such as car polish as this could make it worse and is not worth the risk.

If u are sure only the surface of the disc is damaged and nothing else, u can take it to various places to get it resurfaced. I use our public library, they charge 2 dollars to do it. But I would imagine video and game shoppes (or maybe even pawnshops) would have the machine to do it.

No guarantees, but, this has worked (80% of the time), for me: Gently wax the non-label side of the disk with non-abrasive car wax, and buff it from the hole to the edge ONLY. Then, try to re-install the game. Still stuck? Call the Game's Distributor, and see if they'll replace the disk, they will tell what that will cost.
