How can I install Japanese and Chinese on my PC?

How can i install Windows98 bootfiles to a W2K-PC without formatting?

  • Don't say it's not possible - i know it must be possible. It must be just a matter of having the correct files at the correct place. At school, there's often this error: 0x0000007B. There are some temporary solutions, but they all require to boot from the W2K CD. We have 200+ PC's without CDROM-player, so that's not a good solution. So i want to install a Win98 boot option. Normally, you have to install W98 first and only THEN a newer Windows OS. But is this possible: i backup the W2K-systemfiles on the rootdir, i do a sys c: from a W98 bootdisk, i put the W2K-systemfiles back, i edit the boot.ini so that the W98 will be there too in the bootmenu? Then, when the error happens again, i can manually repair the error which caused the 0x0000007B error by using the W98-boot. (Restoring by using an image takes too long on these PC's.)

  • Answer:

It will NOT work. Windows 98 does not understand the NTFS file system. It can not even read the files, it will not see the 2K partition as a drive.
