My iTunes Library Gone! i have a PC?
-
okay so a long time ago... alright i haven't updated my itunes in a long time so i decided to do it {this was a year or 2 ago so im not sure what update it was} so i did it and then when i checked my itunes library it was gone i might of still had my podcasts im not sure i think i lost them as well. i still had the music on my computer that wasnt bought from itunes but everything i had bought from the itunes store was gone. 300+ songs!! back then i wasnt really accosiated with the internet much so the only reaserch i did was asking people around me if they have had this problem. With no results i just ignored it and started remembering which music i had and started buying again. now its like 2 years later and {no it hasnt happend again} but whenever i defrag my system and it shows me the files that its defragging i always see this found.000/dir.0000chk/iTunes Music/Podcasts/ then after that slash it shows all these podcasts that i do not have now and i think this may be my past itunes library in the abyss of my hardrive now. because the podcasts that it is showing, i am sure i have had them before and that before could of been before i lost my library. so you see if i can find where these podcast are then i can find my original library. and i am running out of space on my hard drive and there isnt anything obvious that is taking so much space in my computer and it is probably the itunes library that i once had. i have tried using the document search, searching for the found.000 thing and also the podcasts that are showing up when i defrag. i use the jk defragger found here http://www.kessels.com/Jkdefrag/ Please Help Me the First answer that helps me solve the problem will get full points

Answer:
"Fixed Chair", your chances are good since during these past 2 years your computer hasn't crashed. What you see when defragmenting your hard drive could be your lost files OR just directions that point to places where those files used to be so nothing for sure yet. In your favor there is the fact that updating your iTunes does not erase any of your files. You said you tried looking for your podcasts using the document search feature of Windows but instead of looking for documents just look for music and video files and try again. This search will show you ALL music files and videos that are currently in your hard drive, if you do not see them then they are not. If they are there in the results you are going to see their location just selecting the "View" tab and clicking "Details" in the drop down menu. Hope they are there, good luck!
