What happens if I reinstall OS? Will all the viruses get killed also?

My macbook has a virus how can i fix this?

  • i know they aren't supposed to get viruses but, somehow mine did not sure how either. so what happens is it runs fine for like 30 seconds then the screen tints from top to bottom and a box pops up in the middle of the screen saying "you need to restart your computer. hold down the power button until it turns off, then press the power button again." so i used the os disc from apple and erased the hd, then when i go to reinstall it the virus pops up again, and i am left confused and frustrated. i'm really hoping to solve this without spending a fortune seeing how i am a poor struggling student who is still trying to pay off the original cost of the computer.

1. You don't have a virus. It's impossible. Stop spreading lies. 2. You're having kernel panics. This is a hardware problem. Take it to Apple.

Take it to Apple. Hardware problem. And yes, Macintosh computers DO get viruses, but you're all brainwashed psychos that think Apple is god, and you DO get viruses but you don't NOTICE them.

Mac's CAN get viruses. over 300 of them have been documented over the years. Any computer can be infected. tho it does not sound as if your problem is virus related but more of a hardware issue.

Macs CAN get viruses. Macs cannot get a PC virus, PCs cannot get a Mac virus, but Macs, PCs AND Linux, all get viruses. I think 98% of viruses are PC though. But this isn't a virus. If you have warranty on your Mac, just bring it in. If you don't. Contact a professional, you wont find help here because problems like that are more detailed that what you can write, unless you are up for righting an essay. Call or take a trip to Apple and ask them. A personal guess is you didn't properly reformat your HDD.

That's not a virus. That is a kernel panic, which is usually caused by bad hardware. Take out any peripherals such as USB drives, headphones, etc. and try to restart. I would take it to the apple store. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1392 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kernel_panic
